FAQS

  • What is a skid steer?

A skid steer is a type of earthmoving machinery. Also known as a ‘bobcat’, it typically features lift arms and a loader but can incorporate a range of attachments for different applications.

  • What is a skid steer used for?

Skid steer or ‘bobcats’ are primarily used for demolishing, digging and excavating surfaces. Their sturdy and compact structure makes them suitable for use on worksites with limited accessibility. Offering great versatility, bobcats can be adjusted for different jobs with optional attachments.

  • Do you need a licence to drive a bobcat?

There is no licence – it’s a unit of competency and each worksite needs to prove competency in order to operate a skid steer. Getting a bobcat unit of competency from a registered training organisation will ensure you have the skills to safely operate this machinery.

  • How to get a bobcat ticket

You’ll need to complete a training course with an accredited training provider to get a bobcat ticket. To help you acquire the necessary skills and knowledge, bobcat training courses usually involve a combination of theory and practical components.
