Major Training offers a three-day dump truck operator training course that you can easily access.  Learn in a real-life construction setting and become qualified for dump truck  operations with the course below.

  • Three-Day Dump Truck Course

    This course is a professional dump truck operator training program. It’s based on competency and delivered in a controlled environment at Major Training’s high-quality simulated worksites throughout Queensland.

    The course offers:

    • Everything you need to earn your dump truck competency from start to finish
    • Three days of competency-based training and assessment delivered by our experienced team
    • Intensive theoretical and practical training conducted in our classroom facility at Yatala or Morayfield over two days. Theory will be presented through videos, live demonstrations, and clear instructions.
    • One day of practical assessment at our facility where you will operate a dump truck
    • A practical skills logbook for you to record your experiences during the course
    • Courses run Monday to Wednesday or Wednesday to Friday from 6:30am until 3.00pm.

    Students are trained in all elements of the dump truck competency. We achieve this by providing quality training materials, including a logbook, training plan, full assessment, training manual and heavy machinery for you to operate.

Our assessments include a closed book written theory test and a comprehensive practical test using our machinery. A nationally recognised statement of attainment will be issued to students on successful completion of the course.


This course is suitable for students who are currently employed or seeking employment in the construction industry.

To enrol in the dump truck ticket course, students must:

  • Be able to read and write basic English
  • Pass a language, literacy, and numeracy assessment (LLN)
  • Be mechanically minded with an interest in operating heavy machinery
  • Be a minimum 16 years of age
  • Provide two forms of identification
  • Wear steel capped or safety boots on site. Sun protection is also recommended (hat, long sleeves, and pants).

The dump truck licence course is a unit of competency from RII30815 Certificate III in Civil Construction (Plant Operations). Successful completion of the course could count towards achieving this qualification.


The cost of this three-day course is $2,835, which includes all learning and assessment resources, access to the machinery and entry into the facility.
