Skilling Queenslanders For Work

Everyone should have access to the training they need to open doors to employment opportunities.

This is why Major Training has partnered with Five Bridges to get involved in Skilling Queenslanders for Work, an initiative that provides training to Queenslanders who are underutilised or underemployed.

Funded by the Queensland Government, Skilling Queenslanders for Work provides direct assistance to those who need support to gain the qualifications and skills required to enter and stay in the workforce.

So no matter your situation or your background, you get a fair go at getting qualified.

About the Initiative

Five Bridges offers eligible candidates a pathway to employment through upskilling with Skilling Queenslanders for Work.

Upon completion, the participant will gain a Certificate in the chosen field, and Five Bridges will then work with them to find employment in that field.

Eligibility criteria includes:

  • Rights to work in Australia
  • Not currently working or studying full time
  • Have not completed an SQW Program before
  • Have not completed the relevant Certificate previously.

While Five Bridges can’t guarantee employment, many companies endorse their programs and are willing to offer ‘working trials’ to successful candidates.

Five Bridges works closely with these organisations to make sure participants are given a working trial rather than a standard interview.

It can be tough to impress someone in a 10-minute interview; these working trials allow participants to really demonstrate their skills and knowledge.

Five Bridges has a 75% employment gain following completion of a course.
