Workiversaries: Staff Milestones At Major Training

We’re not the only ones celebrating an anniversary.

Some of our team have also hit mega milestones this year, and we want to celebrate their “Workiversaries” by taking a look back on their time here at Major Training, and counting how many times they say the F word (family, of course!).

Congratulations Alan, Juliet, John, and Brice on some great years – and here’s to many more!

Alan – Celebrating 15 Years with Major Training

How long have you worked with Major Training?

“In my 15th year and counting.”

“Trainer Assessor.”

Has this always been your position here?

“No – I started off as a Driver Trainer, then expanded into earthmoving, machinery training, and short courses. Now i am training the TLI qualifications”

What made you want to work with Major Training?

“I came to Major to obtain a ticket and was offered a position as a driver trainer while I was here, and the rest is history.”

How has the business changed since you started working here?

“The business has grown 10-fold from when I started, where it was just truck training and earthmoving. Now the business has diversified into conducting a wide range of short courses, high-risk licences, traineeships and apprenticeships.”

What are some of the key achievements/proud moments you’ve had working with Major Training over the years?

“I get the enjoyment of guiding and assisting people on their journey to achieve their goals, whether it’s a career change or just to get a licence.”

How will you be celebrating your 15-year milestone with Major Training?

“Don’t really know yet – up for 15 years! Longest I have ever worked for a company. I’ll probably sit down in a quiet corner somewhere and look back where we were and all the changes that have happen.”

Juliet – Celebrating 13 Years with Major Training

What is your current position with Major Training?

“CX Representative/Short Course Coordinator.”

Has this always been your position here?

“I started in ITC admin for qualification and trainer assistance, then went to CSO at Yatala. Was short course coordinator for a while, then moved to Dinmore and ran the office there for approximately 7 years – sometimes had 2nd CSO, then was mostly by myself/assisting the site manager with day-to-day running of site. Was course advisor when the teams first separated and went through a lot of sales-based training with Gavin, who I learnt a lot from.”

What made you want to work with Major Training?

“I was looking for something new, and Alex and co. were always very welcoming [with a] family atmosphere.”

What’s your favourite thing about working with Major Training?

“The family feeling.”

How has the business changed since you started working here?

“We have come a long way from a very small RTO to now corporate level. We’ve had so many changes for the better over the years and seem to go from strength to strength – even through some very difficult times in the RTO world, we have been strong enough to soldier on.”

What are some of the key achievements/proud moments you’ve had working with Major Training over the years?

“I am proud overall of where we are today and where we are going. It seems we have a pretty clear goal ahead and it feels like we’re all working towards the same goals of being moral, proud & remembered. Personal achievements are being accepted back after 2 maternity leaves, being able to move to various positions and various sites, and celebrating 5 and then 10 years – and looking forward to 15.”

How will you be celebrating your 13-year milestone with Major Training?

“By adding another plaque to my wall.”

Is there anything else you’d like to say about working with Major Training?

“I think I’ve said most of it already. I am very proud to work for Major, for the family-accepting internal side of the business, as well as the professional side, where I can see how the public perceives us and I aim to make that as good a perception as possible.”

John – Celebrating 10 Years with Major Training

What is your current position with Major Training?

“Training Manager of High Risk, Short Courses and Trucks.”

Has this always been your position here?

“No – I started out as a trainer and assessor, working my way up through the ranks.”

What made you want to work with Major Training?

“I was looking at a change – getting off the tools. As Major did training in many different areas and I had a few different qualifications, I thought this would be a good change for me.”

What’s your favourite thing about working with Major Training?

“It is like a big family.”

How has the business changed since you started working here?

“We say we are flexible, and as a business we have proved that over the time I have been here. We have changed how we deliver courses and what courses we deliver depending on what the market is asking for.”

What are some of the key achievements/proud moments you’ve had working with Major Training over the years?

“Getting my HRW assessor accreditation, upskilling in a few qualifications, and becoming a manger.”

How will you be celebrating your 10-year milestone with Major Training?

“Looking forward to the next 10 years.”

Is there anything else you’d like to say about working with Major Training?

“Love working here – there are always different challenges to take and never a dull moment.”

Brice – Celebrating 5 Years with Major Training

What is your current position with Major Training?

“Currently one of the Training Managers.”

Has this always been your position here?

“I first started with Major Training Group as a casual trainer and assessor, delivering courses in Certificate III Logistics and Driving Operations. Eventually I got given students doing traineeships and had a caseload of approximately 120 students. Due to growth, there was a need for another training manager, which I showed interest in and eventually completed/handed over all my students to be fulltime in this role.”

How has the business changed since you started working here?

“The business is ever-changing to meet the needs of the industry.  I love how much our team adapts constantly to enable us all to improve the quality of the service we provide. Our fearless leader Matt Tenkate constantly keeps his finger on the pulse to ensure that we continue to grow and stay successful in what we do. With changes to industry that may otherwise cause an RTO to shut up and close down, we have adapted to make the changes we need to push on through.”

What are some of the key achievements/proud moments you’ve had working with Major Training over the years?

“One of the biggest things that I am proud of within Major Training Group is the successful outcomes of our students. I love the passion that our trainers show to teaching and training our students, and the evidence of this passion passed on to the students, who go on to successfully complete. I love to see the feedback that students share when they say that they have changed their life since dealing with Major Training and MyPath Education.”
