Course Details
The Licence to Operate A Forklift Truck (TLILIC0003) is a nationally recognised forklift licence that qualifies you to operate a forklift anywhere in Australia.
You’ll train in a well-maintained fleet supported by our knowledgeable team. We deliver high-quality, reliable forklift training solutions across QLD that give you the skills to meet the highest standards of safety and compliance as a forklift operator in any industry.
A Licence to Operate A Forklift Truck (TLILIC0003) with Major Training Group teaches you how to safely plan the forklift work, conduct routine checks on a forklift truck, shift loads in a safe manner, and safely shut down and secure equipment after completing operations.
Successful completion of our forklift course in Brisbane will result in a forklift ticket. You’ll require a valid forklift licence to remain employed or gain employment as an operator of these vehicles. These versatile machines are used across a range of industries and are a great start to any career.

What's INCLUDED:
ENTRY Requirements
- Be able to read and write basic English (Workplace Health and Safety requirement)
- Pass a language, literacy and numeracy assessment (LLN)
- Minimum 18 years of age (Workplace Health and Safety requirement)
- Provide three forms of identification – click here to view valid documents
- Wear steel-capped or safety boots on site
- Sun protection is also recommended (hat, long-sleeved shirt and pants)
High-risk work Licences
- High risk work licences have a 5-year life span. After this period, the licence will need to be renewed. This can be done via the WHS Queensland website.
- If your high risk work licence has expired, you’re not classified as a licenced operator until it’s renewed.
- You have up to 12 months to renew your high risk licence. If it’s past the 12-month period, you’ll be required to re-sit the written and practical exam.
- A VOC cannot be done on an expired licence.
How To Apply For a High Risk Work Licence
- You have 60 days from successfully completing your practical assessment to apply with WorkSafe QLD for your high risk work licence.

Course Details
FULL FORKLIFT TRAINING & ASSESSMENT COURSE
Duration: 3 days
Time: 6.30am to 3pm
Suitable for: This course is the perfect choice if you don’t yet have formal experience in operating a Forklift and are looking at gaining employment or starting a new career. This course will teach you everything you need to know from start to finish and is delivered in person over 3 days by our knowledgeable team.
- Both the formal and informal requirements of the training are completed in a controlled environment at Major Training’s simulated worksites
- Everything you need from start to finish
- 25-hours of high-quality training over 3 days delivered by our knowledgeable team or theory online with 1 day practical and gap training, 1 day assessment
- Course starts Mondays and Wednesdays every week
- Students are trained to a competency level suitable to achieve all elements of the assessment
- Assessments are on Wednesdays & Fridays
FORMAL FORKLIFT TRAINING & ASSESSMENT COURSE
Duration: 1-1 ½ days formal training, 1 day practical training & up to 6 months log book on the job and 1 day of assessment
Time: 6.30am to 3pm
Suitable for: Suitable for existing workers requiring a SOA / Forklift Licence to enter the workforce and that can complete the mandatory informal training on the job at their current employment
- Employer involvement and licenced operator required to supervise
- All requirements of the training are completed in a controlled environment at Major Training Group’s high-quality simulated worksites throughout QLD and your employers workplace
- 1-1 ½ days formal training, 1-day practical training, and up to 6 months logbook on the job
- Formal training is completed at a Major Training site
- Forklift formal training is on the first day of the course with assessment once the logbook is completed
- Employers must agree and fill in all relevant areas of the students logbook
- Students must log hours and detail of relevant tasks performed at their workplace
- Student log book must be signed off by employer or employer’s representative with the relevant OHS licence
- A completed log book with an employer’s letter validating the log is required
- Students have up to 6 months to complete
Experienced Operators Course
Duration: 2 days
Time: 6.30am to 3pm
Suitable for: Operators with demonstrated previous experience. Applicants are required to provide evidence of prior experience for enrolment in this course, which may include an expired licence. This can be a more economical option for already skilled people.

Awesome!! After coming from TAFE the training is so much better. Smaller classes better and more knowledgeable teachers who care about the students and more flexible learning (being able to do most of the work from home). TAFE felt like it was just there to keep apprentices there for as long as possible (spending 8 hours to do 2 hours of work) but here it’s all based around the student, come in for the morning to to finish up units then go back to work for the rest of the day.
